Peace Fountain (Greg Wyatt)

The Peace Fountain is a large bronze-and-steel sculptural fountain by artist Greg Wyatt installed in 1985 on the grounds of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. The work depicts the archangel Michael triumphing over a serpent-like dragon and includes a wheel of animals and various symbolic figures. It was commissioned as a major outdoor artwork for the cathedral complex and has been a prominent landmark at the site since its installation. The fountain is located at the cathedral's west plaza adjacent to Amsterdam Avenue.
