Gas Works Park on Lake Union

Gas Works Park occupies the site of the former Seattle Gas Light Company coal gasification plant and was converted into a public park that opened in 1975. Landscape architect Richard Haag designed the park to incorporate and preserve portions of the industrial plant as sculptural and play elements. The park offers panoramic views of Lake Union and the downtown Seattle skyline and is a popular spot for picnics and kite flying.
