University of Texas Tower campus legends

The Main Building (UT Tower) at the University of Texas at Austin dates to the 1930s and is the site of the 1966 mass shooting by Charles Whitman, a well-documented historical event. Campus lore and local articles have also recorded various ghost stories and reports of strange occurrences associated with the Tower and nearby buildings. These stories are part of UT Austin's oral history and are commonly mentioned on campus ghost walks. Accounts of paranormal activity are anecdotal and subject to differing interpretations.
