Samuel Fleming House

The Samuel Fleming House, also known as Flemington Castle, is a historic home in Flemington, New Jersey, built in 1756 and now a museum showcasing 18th-century life. It is the oldest surviving house in the borough and part of the Flemington Historic District. Samuel Fleming, an Irish immigrant, established the house after purchasing land from Thomas Penn. Although it has been claimed that General George Washington visited the tavern operated by Fleming, recent studies suggest these claims are exaggerated. The house features a colonial-style kitchen, ladies parlor, and tavern room, providing visitors with a glimpse into colonial life.
