Toronto Armouries

The Toronto Armouries, built in 1894, was the largest military training facility in Canada, located on University Avenue in downtown Toronto. Designed in the Romanesque Revival style by architect Thomas Fuller, it featured a grand drill hall and trained over 250,000 soldiers for various conflicts, including the Boer War and both World Wars. The Armouries hosted significant events, including a grand opening military festival and exhibitions, before being sold and demolished in 1963 to make way for a new courthouse. Its historical significance and architectural style sparked debates about preservation, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers.
