Ryman Auditorium - original home of the Grand Ole Opry

Ryman Auditorium opened in 1892 as the Union Gospel Tabernacle and became the longtime home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 until the Opry moved to the Grand Ole Opry House in 1974. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is commonly referred to as the 'Mother Church of Country Music.' Ryman continues to operate as a performance venue preserving its historic significance to country and American music.
