São João de Deus Hospital, located in Cachoeira, Bahia, is a historic site that dates back to 1729, making it one of the first hospitals in Brazil. Founded by Friar Antônio Machado, it features a Baroque-style church and a French-style garden, both of which are listed as historic monuments. The hospital's architecture reflects colonial influences, with a courtyard layout and neoclassical exterior. Although the garden is now abandoned and in a state of degradation, it once showcased intricate design elements, including a marble fountain adorned with dolphins.
