Cathedral of Junk (folk-art backyard installation)

The Cathedral of Junk is a large, evolving assemblage of discarded objects constructed in a private South Austin backyard beginning in the late 1980s by artist Vince Hannemann. The stacked and interwoven materials form a multi-room, tower-like structure that has become a notable example of outsider and folk art in Austin. The site is on private property and has historically been open to visitors by appointment or donation.
