Omni Parker House - literary guests and culinary firsts

The Omni Parker House, opened in 1855 on School Street, is Boston's longest continuously operating hotel and hosted numerous 19th-century figures. Charles Dickens stayed at the Parker House during his 1867 visit to Boston, and local literary figures such as Ralph Waldo Emerson were among its patrons. The hotel is also credited in Boston culinary histories as the birthplace of the Parker House roll and the Boston cream pie.
