Churchill House, Chester

Churchill House, located in Handbridge, is a historic building at the University of Chester, originally completed in 1938. It served as the Headquarters of Western Command during World War II, hosting notable figures such as Winston Churchill and General Eisenhower. After military use, it transitioned to a banking headquarters before being acquired by the university in 2015. The building features a striking hexastyle portico added in 1998 and was officially reopened as Churchill House in 2019 by a descendant of Winston Churchill, making it a significant site for both history enthusiasts and visitors to Chester.
