African American Civil War Memorial and Museum

The African American Civil War Memorial and Museum at 1925 Vermont Avenue NW commemorates the service of African American soldiers and sailors and interprets their experiences during the Civil War. The site includes a memorial sculpture and a museum with exhibits and archival materials documenting African American military and civilian contributions. The memorial and museum opened in the late 20th century and are located near the U Street corridor.
