Winchester Mystery House – Continuous Victorian Construction

The Winchester Mystery House is a large Victorian mansion that was under near-continuous construction from about 1886 until 1922 under Sarah Winchester. Its decades of additions produced unusual architectural features such as stairways that end at ceilings and doors that open onto walls, reflecting its long, piecemeal expansion. The property is preserved as a historic house museum open to the public.
