Gas Works Park (former Seattle Gas Light plant)

Gas Works Park was created on the site of the former Seattle Gas Light Company's coal gasification plant; major plant structures date to the early 20th century. Designers preserved and incorporated much of the plant's industrial machinery as landscape features when the park opened in 1975, making it a notable example of adaptive reuse. The remaining plant structures are recognized as important remnants of Seattle's industrial history on Lake Union.
