Congregation Tiferet Israel (Austin, Texas)

Congregation Tiferet Israel is an Orthodox Jewish synagogue located in Austin, Texas, originally built in 1893 in Brenham, Texas, as the B'nai Abraham Synagogue. It was established by early Jewish settlers in the 1860s and became a vital part of the community. In the 1990s, it was recognized as the oldest Orthodox synagogue in Texas still in use. Due to a decline in the local Jewish population, the synagogue was relocated to Austin in 2015, where it was renovated and now serves as a vibrant center for Jewish worship and community activities. The building features traditional architectural elements, including pointed arched windows and a Mikveh, reflecting its historical roots.
