James Finley House (Harshaw, Arizona)

The James Finley House, built around 1877, is a historic structure located in the ghost town of Harshaw, Arizona, and is the most prominent building remaining in the area. Originally constructed as a three-room office for the Hermosa Mining Company, it features red bricks salvaged from a nearby smokestack. The house has undergone several modifications, including the addition of a porch and adobe rooms. It was purchased by businessman James Finley in 1890, who later built a mill that operated briefly before the town's decline. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, highlighting its architectural significance and mining history. Although it is situated on private property and not open to visitors, it remains a notable landmark within the Coronado National Forest.
