Shaw Tower, Singapore

Shaw Tower, completed in 1975, was a notable high-rise commercial building on Beach Road, Singapore, originally housing the largest cinema in the country. Designed by architect Charles Ho, the tower featured a unique Brutalist style and was part of a vision to create a vibrant mixed-use district. Over the years, it underwent several renovations and changes in ownership, including a significant transformation of its cinemas. In 2020, the building was vacated for redevelopment, with plans for a new 35-storey structure that will enhance the Ophir-Rochor Corridor, making it a key part of Singapore's urban landscape. The new Shaw Tower is set to include extensive office and retail spaces, contributing to the area's pedestrian-friendly environment.
