Cabrillo National Monument (historic coastal defense installations)

Cabrillo National Monument commemorates Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo's 1542 landing and includes the historic Point Loma Lighthouse. The park also contains remnants of Fort Rosecrans, a coastal defense site with preserved artillery batteries and related military structures from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The monument and its installations are administered by the National Park Service and occupy the tip of the Point Loma peninsula.
