Dyal–Upchurch Building

The Dyal–Upchurch Building, located at 4 East Bay Street in Jacksonville, Florida, is a historic six-story structure designed by architect Henry John Klutho. Completed in 1902, it was the first multi-story building constructed in downtown Jacksonville after the Great Fire of 1901. Originally home to the Dyal–Upchurch Investment Company, the building has housed various tenants over the years, including the Atlantic National Bank and the National Weather Service. Notably, Florida author Stetson Kennedy worked here in the 1930s. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, allowing for rehabilitation tax credits for restoration efforts. It has undergone several renovations and ownership changes, reflecting the ongoing revitalization of Jacksonville's historic downtown area.
