Joensuu City Hall

Joensuu City Hall, designed by Eliel Saarinen and completed in 1914, is a stunning brick building located in the heart of Joensuu, Finland. This architectural gem showcases a blend of Romantic Nationalism and late Art Nouveau styles. It serves as a cultural and administrative hub, housing the city's central administration, the easternmost professional theater in the EU, and a restaurant. Situated along the picturesque Pielinen River, the city hall features a terrace that hosts popular jazz and club concerts. Despite a significant fire in 1966 that led to extensive renovations, the building retains its historical charm and continues to be a vibrant part of the community.
