USS Constitution - commissioned ship that still sails on occasion

USS Constitution, launched in 1797 and berthed at the Charlestown Navy Yard, is the world’s oldest commissioned naval vessel still afloat and is maintained by the U.S. Navy with interpretive support from the USS Constitution Museum. Although primarily a museum ship, the vessel remains an active commissioned ship and has undertaken occasional short sailings and ceremonial movements under its own canvas, events recorded by the Navy and the museum. The ship's long service and rare sailings are central to Boston’s maritime lore.
