Moore Place

Moore Place was a historic mansion located in Esher, Surrey, known as the 'gateway to Esher'. Built in the late 18th or early 19th century, it featured a glasshouse, formal gardens, and a nine-hole golf course established in 1926. The mansion was home to notable figures, including Lady Byron, and transitioned into a hotel and restaurant in the 1920s, famously painted purple. It gained further attention when featured on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares in 2004. Despite its rich history, Moore Place was demolished in 2010 and replaced by a care home, while the adjacent golf club closed in 2019. Plans for residential development on the site are underway, marking a significant change in the area's landscape.
