Thomas Cook House (Somerville, Massachusetts)

The Thomas Cook House is a historic Greek Revival farmhouse built around 1850, located in Somerville, Massachusetts. It is the only surviving example of this architectural style on the west side of the city, serving as a testament to the area's agricultural heritage. The house features distinctive architectural elements such as pilasters and a gabled pediment. Originally constructed by local farmer Thomas Cook, the house was relocated from its original site as the area transitioned from market gardens to residential development following the establishment of Tufts University in 1852. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989, making it a significant landmark for both tourists and researchers interested in local history.
