Maiden Spring

Maiden Spring is a historic home and farm complex located in Pounding Mill, Tazewell County, Virginia, recognized as a national historic district. The site features eight contributing buildings, including a two-story main house that incorporates an earlier dwelling from around 1772. Visitors can explore various structures such as a meat house, slave house, summer kitchen, horse barn, and a schoolhouse. Notably, it was the residence of 19th-century congressman Rees Bowen and his son Henry, also a congressman. The property holds historical significance as Confederate Army troops camped here during the Civil War. Maiden Spring was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994, making it an intriguing destination for history enthusiasts and tourists alike.
