Ron Kirk - Dallas's first African American mayor

Ron Kirk was elected as the first African American mayor of Dallas in 1995 and served as mayor through 2002, holding the mayoral office in the city's municipal government during that period. After serving as mayor, Kirk went on to serve as United States Trade Representative from 2009 to 2013. Dallas City Hall was the seat of the mayoral office during his tenure and remains the municipal headquarters for the city's elected officials.
