The Glebe (Lower Hutt)

The Glebe is the oldest surviving house in the Hutt Valley, New Zealand, and holds the distinction of being the first vicarage in the area. Built in 1856 on land donated to the Anglican church, this historic house is classified as a 'Category I' historic place by Heritage New Zealand. Designed by church warden William Corbett, it was later acquired by architect Frederick de Jersey Clere, who renamed it 'The Glebe' and added a southern wing. The two-storey timber weatherboard home features a gable roof and showcases the architectural evolution of the region, making it a fascinating site for tourists and researchers alike.
