Legion of Honor museum plaza and steps

The Legion of Honor, opened in 1924 as a memorial modeled on a French pavilion, sits on a bluff at Lincoln Park. Its formal steps, plaza, and colonnaded facade create framed, relatively tranquil views westward over the Presidio, the Golden Gate, and the Marin Headlands. The museum’s elevated, museum-focused vantage is less frequented than many of the city’s more public overlooks.
