Independence Hall (Old Pennsylvania State House)

Built between 1732 and 1753 in the Georgian style, Independence Hall served as the Pennsylvania State House and is where the Second Continental Congress debated and adopted the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The Constitutional Convention met in the same building in 1787 to draft the U.S. Constitution. The hall's red brick façade, white trim, and central bell tower with steeple are characteristic features of 18th-century civic architecture. It is part of Independence National Historical Park and is a National Historic Landmark.
