Nothgottes

Nothgottes, meaning 'Need of God', is a historic Cistercian monastery located in the scenic Rheingau Hills of Hesse, Germany, near Eibingen. Established in the 14th century, it has been a pilgrimage site since then, with an annual pilgrimage from Kruft dating back to 1674. The monastery features a Gothic church built in the 15th century and has undergone various transformations, serving different religious communities over the centuries. It became a Cistercian monastery again in 2013, inhabited by monks from Vietnam. Visitors can explore the beautiful wooded surroundings and participate in public services, while the site is also part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Rhine Gorge.
