College of Air Traffic Control

The College of Air Traffic Control (CATC) in Hampshire is the primary British institution for training air traffic controllers, also welcoming international trainees. Established in 1949, it has evolved from its origins in Dorset to its current location, which opened in 2011. The college offers a rigorous training program that includes a two-month course followed by specialized training for different controller roles. With state-of-the-art facilities, including six simulator rooms and a 3D aerodrome simulator, CATC trains around 120 students annually, including all Norwegian air traffic controllers since 2015. This institution is a key player in ensuring safe and efficient air traffic management, making it an interesting site for both tourists and researchers in aviation.
