Government Buildings, Suva

The Government Buildings in Suva, Fiji, are a striking example of Art Deco architecture, originally constructed in the late 1930s as the seat of colonial administration. Today, they house the Prime Minister's offices, the High Court, and various government ministries, and have been the seat of the Parliament of Fiji since 2014. Designed by notable architect Walter Frederick Hedges, the buildings were officially opened in 1939 and have a rich history, including serving as the legislative seat from Fiji's independence in 1970 until the 1987 coups. Visitors can admire the iconic clock tower and two prominent statues of Ratu Epenisa Seru Cakobau and Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna located at the front, all set against the backdrop of nearby Albert Park.
