Doyle Hardware Building

The Doyle Hardware Building, located at 330 Main St in Utica, New York, is a historic factory complex built between 1881 and 1901, featuring a striking design by architect Frederick H. Gouge. Originally a clothing factory, it transitioned to spark plug manufacturing in 1934 and later became home to the Utica Distributing Company. Recognized for its historical significance, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. Efforts to redevelop the building began in 2007, aiming to transform it into a vibrant space with a restaurant, commercial offices, and loft apartments. Although a restaurant briefly operated from 2010 to 2012, the building has faced challenges, including foreclosure and bankruptcy, and remains a focal point for local revitalization efforts.
