Cueto Building

The Cueto Building, also known as La Nueva Libertad, is a historic commercial structure located at 1301 E. Madison Street in Brownsville, Texas. Constructed in 1893 by Spanish immigrant Don Andres Cueto for his mercantile business, the building features unique architectural elements such as a corbelled brick cornice and a domed brick bakery oven. It has been recognized as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark since 1985 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in Texas history and architecture.
