Ballard Bridge beside the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks

The Ballard Bridge is a steel bascule bridge that opened in 1917 and spans Seattle's Lake Washington Ship Canal adjacent to the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks. It links the Ballard neighborhood with Interbay and opens for vessel traffic on the canal. The bridge underwent major rehabilitation work around the turn of the 21st century to update its mechanical and structural systems.
