Arts and Industries Building (Smithsonian)

The Arts and Industries Building, completed in 1881, was the Smithsonian Institution's first purpose-built museum and is designated a National Historic Landmark. It originally displayed technological, industrial, and scientific collections and later hosted rotating exhibitions and special events. The Victorian Romanesque building at 900 Jefferson Drive SW has undergone periodic renovations and re-openings for public exhibitions in recent decades.
