Pegues Place

Pegues Place, also known as the Claudius Pegues House, is a historic Georgian-style home located near Wallace in Marlboro County, South Carolina. Built around 1770, this two-story white frame house features a full façade porch and has undergone modifications, including a late-19th century wing addition. The property includes several historical structures such as barns, a cotton gin, and a greenhouse. Notably, it was the site of a significant event during the American Revolutionary War on May 3, 1781, when an agreement for the exchange of prisoners of war was signed here. Pegues Place was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, making it a valuable site for both tourists and researchers interested in American history.
