Elk Landing

Elk Landing is a historic house located in Elkton, Maryland, recognized for its significance in early Swedish settlement and trade in the region. Built around 1780, this two-story fieldstone dwelling features original interior elements and was once the home and trading post of John Hansson Steelman, a Swedish-American trader. The site reflects the interactions between Scandinavian settlers and Native Americans, as well as the arrival of Lutheran priests in 1697. Visitors can explore the archaeological remains of Steelman's original long house and learn about the area's rich cultural heritage.
