Hotel Castelar

Hotel Castelar, located at the bustling intersection of May and 9th of July Avenues in Buenos Aires, Argentina, operated for 90 years before closing in 2020 due to the pandemic. Originally opened in 1928 as Hotel Excelsior, it was designed by Italian architect Mario Palanti. The hotel is notable for hosting the famous Spanish poet Federico García Lorca during his stay from 1933 to 1934, with his room now preserved as a museum. Additionally, it was the site of significant political events, including Vice President Carlos Álvarez's resignation in 2000. The hotel also served as a filming location for several movies, adding to its cultural significance.
