Pioneer Implement Company

The Pioneer Implement Company, also known as the International Harvester Transfer House, is a historic site in Council Bluffs, Iowa, established in 1893. This four-story Late Victorian building represents the locally owned agricultural implement industry during a time of growth in the city's Implement District. Unlike many competitors, it was not owned by an eastern factory. After ceasing operations in 1915, the building was taken over by International Harvester, which expanded it in 1927. It remained a significant site until IH closed in 1964, after which it housed various businesses. Today, it has been transformed into live/work spaces for artists and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008, making it a notable destination for tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
