Qushla

The Qushla, also known as The Qishleh, is a historic Ottoman building located in Baghdad, Iraq, on the al-Rusafa side of the city. Constructed starting in 1881 under the direction of Wali Mehmed Namık Pasha and completed by Midhat Pasha, the Qushla served as a central administrative hub and military barracks for the Ottoman army. Its strategic location in the heart of Baghdad, an area rich in history dating back to the Abbasid Caliphate, makes it a significant site. Today, the Qushla is a vibrant cultural venue, hosting social activities, art exhibitions, and attracting visitors to the nearby al-Mutanabbi Street.
