The Sears Roebuck & Company Department Store, located in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, is a historic Art Deco building featuring a striking three-story structure with a 103-foot tower. Opened in 1932, it was designed to attract the growing number of car owners in the area and became a significant retail hub during its time. The store was a part of the expansion of Sears, which was once the third-largest retailer in the U.S. The building was designated a New York City landmark in 2012, ensuring its preservation amid the changing landscape of retail. Although the store closed in 2021, the landmark remains a notable piece of Brooklyn's architectural and commercial history, with plans for future redevelopment on the site.
