The Players (Players Club)

Founded by actor Edwin Booth in 1888, The Players is a private social club for actors and others dedicated to the dramatic arts; its clubhouse at 16 Gramercy Park South houses a significant collection of theatrical memorabilia and portraits. The building and institution have been central to New York theatrical social life since the late 19th century. The clubhouse is a designated New York City landmark and continues to operate as a cultural venue and private club.
