Fox Theatre (historic movie palace)

The Fox Theatre opened in 1928 as a large movie palace designed by C. Howard Crane for movie magnate William Fox, featuring an ornate, exotic interior and a large auditorium. After years of decline it was rescued from demolition and underwent major restoration in the 1980s, reopening as a performing-arts venue that hosts concerts, Broadway touring shows, and civic events. The Fox remains one of Detroit's best-known examples of early-20th-century theatrical infrastructure.
