San Francisco Ferry Building and its clock tower

The San Francisco Ferry Building was completed in 1898 as the city's main transportation hub for ferry traffic across the Bay. Its 245-foot clock tower was designed with reference to the 12th-century Giralda bell tower in Seville, Spain. After suffering decline following the opening of the Bay and Golden Gate Bridges, the building underwent major restoration and was reopened as a food marketplace and office building in 2003.
