Candler Building (New York City)

The Candler Building is a historic 24-story skyscraper located at the southern end of Times Square in Midtown Manhattan, designed in the Spanish Renaissance style by Willauer, Shape and Bready. Constructed between 1912 and 1913 for Coca-Cola magnate Asa Griggs Candler, it features a distinctive marble and terracotta facade, although the terracotta has been replaced with cast stone. The building originally housed entertainment firms and included the Candler Theatre. Over the years, it has undergone several renovations and changes in ownership, with its commercial spaces recently serving as a shelter for asylum seekers. The Candler Building is notable for its architectural significance and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
