Boston Marathon - world's oldest annual marathon

The Boston Marathon, first run in 1897, is the world's oldest annual marathon and has been held every year (with few exceptions for wartime or pandemics) since its inception. The race is organized by the Boston Athletic Association and traditionally finishes on Boylston Street at Copley Square in Boston. The event is internationally renowned and uses qualifying standards for entrants.
