Carter Hill (Lebanon, Virginia)

Carter Hill is a historic manor house located near Lebanon, Virginia, built between 1921 and 1922 for Dale Carter Lampkin and his brother-in-law William Wallace Bird. Originally part of a 1,000-acre farm, the estate now encompasses about 250 acres. The house showcases Colonial Revival architecture with its striking two-story brick facade, green-glazed terra cotta roof tiles, and grand pedimented portico supported by monumental cast iron columns. Visitors can also explore a family cemetery on the property. Carter Hill was recognized for its historical significance and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, making it a noteworthy destination for history enthusiasts and tourists alike.
