Boscobel (Nebraska City, Nebraska)

Boscobel is a historic two-story house located in Nebraska City, Nebraska, built in 1879 for Rollin M. Rolfe, a prominent local figure and co-founder of the Midland Pacific Railway. Designed in the Italianate style, it features distinctive architectural elements such as a paneled and bracketed cornice and stone quoins. Although it is a modest representation of the Italianate style, it is recognized as a fine example in Nebraska and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1976. The name 'Boscobel' is derived from the Italian phrase meaning 'in the midst of fair woods', linking it to a historic English house associated with King Charles II's escape after the Battle of Worcester.
