Old Point Loma Lighthouse - decommissioned beacon with reported hauntings

The Old Point Loma Lighthouse operated from 1855 until it was decommissioned in 1891 because its high elevation frequently left it above the fog and made it ineffective as a navigational aid. The lighthouse is preserved within Cabrillo National Monument and is open to visitors as a historic site. Over many decades the lighthouse has been the subject of local ghost stories and anecdotal paranormal reports, though such claims remain anecdotal and are disputed.
