Den Borgerlige Velgørenheds Stiftelse

Den Borgerlige Velgørenheds Stiftelse, or 'The House of Civic Charity', is a historic building located in Præstø, Vordingborg Municipality, Denmark. Constructed in 1869, it was originally established to provide housing for elderly widows of the middle class. The building is notable for its architectural significance and was listed as a protected site by the Danish Heritage Agency in 1982. Initially housing eight small apartments, it required residents to be widows over 50 years old with ties to the founding society. Today, the building has been refurbished and now contains six apartments, offering a glimpse into the social history of the region and the charitable efforts of the 19th century.
