Al-Qahira Castle

Al-Qahira Castle, located in the ancient city of Taiz, Yemen, is a historical fortress perched on the northern slope of Mount Sabr. Commissioned in the 12th century by Sultan 'Abd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Sulayhi, the castle features stunning architecture with two main sections: Al-Adina, known for its terraced gardens and four palaces, and the Maghreb area, which includes guard towers and storage facilities. The castle's impressive walls, reaching 120 meters in height, were built with advanced engineering techniques of the time. Despite suffering significant damage during the Yemeni Civil War, the castle has been reopened to visitors, offering a glimpse into Yemen's rich history and architectural heritage.
